Terms of Service

Effective July 6, 2026

Welcome to Family Cookbook. These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and Family Cookbook ("we", "us") covering your use of familycookbook.ai and the Family Cookbook service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

1. What the service is

Family Cookbook is a private, invite-only place for a family to save, organize, and share recipes — including scanning recipe cards, importing recipes from the web, planning meals, and enhancing food photos. It is designed for personal, non-commercial family use.

2. Your account

You need an account to use the service. Keep your sign-in credentials secure — you're responsible for activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 years old to create an account. Family members under 18 should join only at the invitation and under the supervision of a parent or guardian in their family.

3. Subscriptions & billing

4. Your recipes are yours

You own the recipes, photos, notes, and other content your family adds. You give us only the limited license we need to operate the service — to store your content, back it up, and display it to the family members you've invited. We do not sell your content, use it in advertising, or share it outside your family. If you delete content or your account, that license ends.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the service to store or share content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful; don't attempt to break, probe, or overload the service; don't resell it; and only invite people to your family cookbook who you actually know. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or other people.

6. AI features

Recipe scanning, web import, and photo enhancement use artificial intelligence. AI makes mistakes: a transcribed quantity, temperature, or cooking time can be wrong. Always use your own judgment — especially around food safety, allergens, and cooking temperatures. AI-enhanced photos are stylized recreations and may differ from the original dish.

7. Service changes and availability

We work to keep the service reliable, but it's provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may add, change, or retire features. If we ever discontinue the service, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your recipes first.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9. Ending these terms

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; where practical, we'll warn you first.

10. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll post the updated terms here and note the new effective date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
